In Montalcino, the production of quality wines is made possible due to a characteristic geological conformation and optimal climatic conditions: on these hills the wind keeps the air fresh and clean, and the summers are long, dry and sunny. Here, nature shows itself in all its beauty.
That wine has been made in Montalcino for centuries is readily testified as early as the mid-sixteenth century by Leandro Alberti who, in his “Descrittione di tutta l’Italia” (A description of all of Italy), cites Montalcino “for the good wines extracted from its pleasant hills” . An enchanting village, perched on a hill 567 meters above sea level, which has managed to preserve its medieval charm intact. The territory of Montalcino, so classically Tuscan, is part of the Val d’Orcia Natural and Cultural Artistic Park and is part of the Sienese stretch of the Via Francigena, the main route for Christian pilgrims traveling from beyond the Alps to Rome.
